Renewable Sources in India to add 1,00,000 MW by 2050

In 2005, electricity generation in India grew at a CAGR of 6.2%. However the demand
far exceeded the supply by 12.1%. At present India enjoys an institutional capacity
of 135,000 MW, which primarily includes hydro, thermal, nuclear & renewable energy
sources. The country is anticipated to add up to 620,000 MW to this within the next
20 years.
