British Airline opens the door to In flight mobile phone calls

Released on: March 30, 2008, 11:54 pm

Press Release Author: Shally

Industry: Marketing

Press Release Summary: British airlines BMI and Ryanair are happy with the news and
are ready to install the new technology. Though, Middle Eastern airline Emirates
recently introduced its own in-air mobile phones service.

Press Release Body: If planning to travel in a British airline, then there is good
news for you. The British communications regulator Ofcom has given the nod for the
installation of systems which may allow the passengers, to send and receive calls
and text messages, while still inside the plane.

But before the passengers start using the calling and messaging facilities from
their seats, the authorities need the approval of UK\'s Civil Aviation Authority
(CAA) and European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA).

According to Ofcom, after the approval is granted it will depend on the individual
airline companies, to initiate the process or not, based on the customer demand.

British airlines BMI and Ryanair are happy with the news and are ready to install
the new technology. Though, Middle Eastern airline Emirates recently introduced its
own in-air mobile phones service.

Ryanair hopes that the service would start running successfully from the mid of this
year.

The entire airlines agree that the safety of the passengers is the priority and no
compromise will be made on that.
