The Announcement of a new Annual insured breakdown service for trucks not only flies in the face of conventional HGV ‘Pay-on-Use’ schemes but can reduce the costs associated with a breakdown. It offers owners and operators the same level of protection against breakdown as the public currently receive with their cars. With the cost of owning a commercial vehicle rising steeply in the UK, an Insured Policy could reduce some of the burden for Truck owners and help them calculate, with some accuracy, their annual expenditure on breakdown costs.

The Scheme, underwritten by UKU on behalf of AXA gives the policy holder the choice of 5 levels of Nationwide cover with the choice of a extending the provision to Europe.
Roper continued, “The breakdown industry is geared towards the mass public. It has become very generic and almost a throwaway item with cover added into motor policies or paid for at the supermarket. This type of domestic cover is not suitable for commercial vehicles and there are few specialists left that will provide this type of bespoke service. Our aim is to continue to offer specialist services that meet the individual needs of the customer with a simple yet comprehensive set of cover options.”
