\"Our Last American Summer: The Coney Island Story\"
A documentary about the Coney Island’s famed amusement district and it’s new and
controversial development plans.

2008 is one the final seasons before a major reconstruction of Coney Island

New York, NY---\"Our Last American Summer”(in production) will unveil what’s behind
the curtains of the giant more than 2 billion dollars redevelopment project of Coney
Island. It will show the controversy between Mayor Bloomberg and the city’s
strategic vision for Coney Island that clashes with developer Thor Equities and
local residents. As well as state senator Carl Kruger of Brooklyn, the park vendors
and local business owners.

The point of contention for this project is loudly vocalizing around plans to raze
much of Astroland amusement area, rezoning and environmental issues. As well as
remaking the neighborhood, building giant entertainment facilities, luxury condos,
expensive hotel towers.
There are concerns about turning Coney Island a cultural icon of New York into a Las
Vegas-style entertainment complex.

The purpose of this film is to document Coney Island\'s over 100-years of glorious
history and it\'s dramatic changes that raises many questions about it’s future. This
project will present the thoughts, memories and opinions of Coney Island as well as
some of the great people who have enjoyed \"America\'s Playground”.
