Identify got funding for RFID warehouse

Released on: September 15, 2008, 9:13 pm

Press Release Author: Identify

Industry: Software

Press Release Summary: Identify, the first Thai company who purely focuses on RFID
technology, got funding from NIA (National Innovative Agency) to implement RFID for
warehouse management. The objective of this solution is to enhance warehouse
operation in order to reduce transaction and mis-place errors.

Press Release Body: National Innovative Agency (NIA) which is one of the
organizations established by the Ministry of Science to function as a central unit
in enhancing innovation development in Thailand, particularly in strategic
innovation which impacts the productivity of the nation.

After evaluating Identify’s RFID warehouse solution, NIA provides funding to
materialize this solution. RFID warehouse solution is planned to implement to one
of the local 3PLs in Thailand and scheduled to complete within the next five months.

Even though there are several warehouse management solutions in the market, none of
them can ensure the on-site operation. It is believed that more than half of
inventory records do not match with physical inventory. One reason of this
mis-match is because these solutions fail to confirm if all goods are kept in the
assigned location or are placed in the wrong location.

With the extensive experience in warehouse operation, Identify realizes the
limitation of the existing auto data capture technology which results in transaction
and mis-place errors. Therefore, Identify has employed passive RFID technology to
reduce the above errors.

Passive RFID tag is attached to each bin in order to identify location.
Simultaneously, a RFID reader and an industrial grade PC are fixed in the fork lift.
Prior to each shift, the list of pallets to be moved will be wirelessly sent to the
PC in fork lift. Each fork lift driver selects the pallet that he is going to move
from the PC. After the selection, he drives the fork lift to the assigned bin of
that pallet. The reader in the fork lift will communicate with RFID tag of that
bin. The system will automatically confirm if that pallet is kept in the right bin.
Alternatively, the system will automatically inform if the pallet is kept in the
wrong location.

From the above solution, Identify has established the system that allows each bin to
communicate with the driver automatically. To automate the on-site operation in
warehouse, it can reduce transaction error, record the latest location of that
pallet and turn all on-site operation to be paperless operation.
