Press Release Summary: A logo created by Salem area graphic designer Randy Hill has
been selected for inclusion in the 5th edition of LogoLounge 5: 2,000 International
Identities by Leading Designers.
Press Release Body: LogoLounge books are published annually by Rockport Publishers,
a Massachusetts-based company that creates books for art professionals. Over 30,000
individual logos from all over the world are submitted for inclusion in each edition
of the books, which usually contain 2,000 individual, original logos. LogoLounge
books are known for being cutting-edge and inspirational, and are often used by
artists and graphic design professionals looking for ideas.
The logo that will be featured in the upcoming publication represents the Oregon
Valley Boys, a Salem area Hank Willams-esque western swing band that Hill plays
drums in. The logo Hill created was a collaboration between himself and Von
Glitschka, another independent designer based in Salem. Hill says that the logo was
designed to look like it represented a band that had been around for decades, when
in fact the Oregon Valley Boys have only been in existence for about two years. "It
was a team effort between Hill Design Studios and Glitschka Studios. I created the
illustration of Mt. Hood that is in the background of the logo and Von Glitschka
used his unique talents to give the logo an added retro look with the typeface and
general design."
Logos arenâEUR(tm)t new for Randy Hill âEUR" he has also created logo art for a number of
record labels, music festivals, and radio shows. Hill says that creating logos is a
special challenge, âEURœin essence, when you are designing a logo, you are attempting to
distill a company's entire image into a single, graphic representation."
In addition to creating logo art, Hill also enjoys painting and creating assemblage
pieces, which recently won him local acclaim in a feature article in Salem Monthly
alternative magazine (www.willamettelive.com). More of his professional work can be
seen at his graphic design website www.hilldesignstudios.com, while his found art
pieces can be accessed at www.artfoundango.com. You may view Von Glitschka's work
