DirectRooms.com welcomes the first World Chess Games for the Disabled to Dresden from the 24 October until 30th October 2011.

Organised by the ZMDI Sczachfestival Dresden e V, this is the first World Chess Games tournament for the disabled. The event is to be run on a biennial basis and players’ chess associations will be responsible for player selection. Each team participating in the chess games will consist of four players.

There are three categories to be entered, Braille, deaf and physically disabled and the winner of each category will be eligible for gold, silver or bronze medals. There is also a 3,000 Euro prize fund. The World Chess Games for the Disabled also have a team ranking and the winner of that category will be based on the individual points won by each team player.

The competition will be held at the Ramada Hotel in Dresden. Since this is an international event, demand for hotel accommodation will be high and participants and their carers are advised to book into a Dresden city centre hotel to avoid disappointment. The deadline for registration is 16th September and entry costs E40.

Dresden is in the east of Germany and is the capital of the province of Saxony. The city boasts good public transport links across the city as well as excellent national and international, rail, car and air infrastructure. The chess games organisers have promised a variety of cultural and sightseeing events will be held for players’ carers in order that all can enjoy their time in Dresden.
