Annual Market Day in historic docks to return on 16 th December.

LondonTown.com has announced details of a number of discounted rooms in the proximity of the famous St Katharine Docks Market.

The market is open on December 16 th , with gift, craft and food stalls set by the water in Marble Quay Courtyard, just outside the picturesque Dickens Inn. Mulled wine, roast chestnuts, Christmas meats and cheeses, hog roast- all the heartiest fare associated with the Yuletide period will be there. The day is capped with a charity raffle, with the chance of winning a luxury Partridges Hamper.

The market draws crowds from all over the capital. And for visitors coming from further afield, LondonTown.com is providing cheap hotels in London for the weekend of the market. A number of discounted rooms have been opened in hotels close to St. Katharine Docks.

Among them, The Tower is just a minute's trot from the market. With views overlooking the Tower of London and Tower Bridge, this four star is situated in one of the most iconic parts of the city. 90% discounts bring a double room down to 98 pounds per night (when you book through LondonTown.com).

For even more luxury – and with the same price tag – the Five Star Grange Tower Bridge Hotel is offering a 60% discount on a double room, bringing the rate down to an affordable 99 pounds per night for the duration of St Katharine Docks Market. The Grange Tower Bridge is about a five minute walk from the market.

The Docks themselves are an attraction throughout the year, combining Victorian heritage and sleek modern office high rises, with fine dining close by and a fully functioning waterway that sees a constant influx of yachts and barges to the marina. Designed by Thomas Telford, work on the docks began in 1827. It became a major hub for importing exotic goods from overseas, including ivory and marble.
