Classical music fans can see award-winning violinist Nigel Kennedy play Vivaldi in Edinburgh next year.

The virtuoso musician and former child prodigy is set to perform at the Usher Hall on Thursday January 12th, when he will present his unique interpretation of the Italian composer's much-loved Four Seasons.

Kennedy's 1989 recording of Vivaldi's violin concerto suite is one of the bestselling classical albums of all time.

The performer will also treat the audience to a selection of music from his latest album Four Elements, backed by his band and the Orchestra of Life.

Tickets for the concert are priced between £36 and £45, with a £3.50 booking fee. The show is due to begin at 07:30 GMT.

Built in 1914, the Usher Hall is one of the main venues for the Edinburgh International Festival and is famed for its excellent acoustics.

It was constructed after Andrew Usher, the son of a local whisky distiller, donated£100,000 to the city of Edinburgh to fund a new concert hall.

LateRooms.com recommends a wide range of Edinburgh hotels that could appeal to classical music lovers, including The GlassHouse.

This luxurious five-star hotel offers boutique accommodation in the heart of the Scottish capital.

For more information on the event, visit www.usherhall.co.uk or contact the box office on 0131 228 1155.
